Nine New Millionaires created
1 Feb, 2005
“Saturday’s LOTTO and LOTTO Plus draws created a total of nine new millionaires,” says Shenanda Janse van Rensburg, Uthingo spokesperson.
Eight LOTTO players each won R 1 980 755 after the jackpot prize of R15 million was added to the second division prize pool after no jackpot winners emerged in five consecutive draws.
“According to LOTTO game rules the Jackpot can roll over a maximum of four times. If there is no jackpot winner in the fifth consecutive draw, the prize is added to the prize pool of the second division winners,” says Janse van Rensburg.
She says that it was only the second time since LOTTO’s launch that second division winners shared the Jackpot pool after five consecutive draws with no jackpot winners.
On Saturday, June 29, 2002, the jackpot eluded players for five draws in a row and eight division two winners, each won R2,6 million after the game’s top prize was split amongst them.
One person managed to match all six winning numbers in the LOTTO Plus draw on Saturday and won more than R2,1 million.
Saturday’s nine millionaires bring the total number of National Lottery millionaires to 469.
Players are also reminded that Wednesday’s LOTTO and LOTTO Plus jackpots are estimated at R3 million and R1 million respectively.
