Lotto Jackpot Expires
26 June, 2004
Lottery operator Uthingo has confirmed that yet another Jackpot prize is about to expire.
The prize of R1 464 067 will expire on Monday, June 28 unless the prize is claimed.
The ticket holder was one of four Jackpot winners in the draw that took place on Saturday, June 28, 2003 when the numbers 1, 9, 19, 39, 40 and 43 were drawn.
The R20 Quickpick ticket was bought in Benoni, East Rand on the day of the draw between 13:30 and 14:30.
Uthingo spokesperson, Shenanda Janse van Rensburg says prizes worth more than R130 million are currently unclaimed.
“Many players do not check their tickets immediately after the draws. They leave it in their cars, wallets, handbags and in drawers and forget about them.
“Some of LOTTO’s biggest winners only claimed their prizes several days after the draws, because they didn’t check their tickets immediately.
“However, not every Jackpot prize since launch has been claimed. Already, three Jackpots, totalling almost R13 million, have expired.
“If a player cannot reach an Uthingo office before 17:00 on the day of expiry, they can call the 24-hour Player Thusong customer helpline on 0800 40 30 40,” concludes Janse van Rensburg.
Note:
1. In accordance with the licence, winners have up to 365 days from the date of a particular draw to claim their prizes. If the money is not claimed, half will go to the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund for distribution to Good Causes and the balance is retained by the operator, to supplement prizes for special draws.
2. If the expiry date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the last day that a ticket can be claimed will fall on the Monday. Players have until close of business (17:00) on the expiry day to claim their ticket.
