R23 MILLION JACKPOT PRIZE MAKES KZN MAN PROVINCE’S BIGGEST LOTTO WINNER
14 June, 2005
Kwa-Zulu Natal has all the excitement this week – in addition to the thrill of the sardine rush and the ecstasy of the Comrades Marathon, one lucky LOTTO player scooped a LOTTO Jackpot worth R23 million.
And if that isn’t enough buzz for KZN, the province produced a second Jackpot winner last Saturday when a man in his early 50s won more than R2,6-million.
KZN’s biggest Jackpot winner to date, is a 50-something man who won R23 350 611 in last Wednesday’s LOTTO draw with a R20 Quickpick ticket.
“I was watching television on Thursday morning when the winning results were displayed on screen.
“My heart skipped a beat when I saw on the screen the same numbers stacked in one line on my R20 Quickpick ticket,” said the winner who does not want to be identified.
He will quit his job immediately and enjoy his new-found fortune with his wife and adult children.
The winner, who has bought his Lottery tickets at the same retailer since launch, tasted some success with the game of chance a while back.
“I once matched four numbers plus the bonus number and knew it was only a matter of time before I scored six out of six.”
Kwa-Zulu Natal’s newest millionaire will use his winnings to purchase a luxury vehicle and also plans to take a well deserved holiday overseas.
The bulk of his winnings will be invested once he has spoilt his wife and children.
The winner has described the winning experience as “unbelievable” and he will donate a portion of his prize to a charity that looks after children with disabilities.
To date, Kwa-Zulu Natal has produced 82 LOTTO millionaires.
