R2 MILLION PRIZE FOR MATCHING FIVE NUMBERS PLUS THE BONUS
18 Aug, 2005
Matching five numbers plus the bonus ball turned out to be very profitable for six players in Wednesday night’s LOTTO draw.
The Jackpot prize was added to the second division prize pool after no one could match all six winning numbers.
This was done according to game rules, which stipulate that the Jackpot can roll over a maximum of four draws.
“Wednesday night’s LOTTO draw marked the fifth consecutive draw that produced no jackpot winners and the prize was therefore added to the second division prize pool,” says Uthingo spokesperson, Shenanda Janse van Rensburg.
“The prize payout per winner of R 2 048 181 is also the second highest prize payout in this division since the game was launched in March, 2000.
On June 29, 2002 the first Jackpot roll-down occurred and eight division two players each won R2 653 314. The second roll-down took place on January 29 this year and eight players received a prize of R1 980 755 for matching five number plus the bonus.
Since launch, the Jackpot prize has rolled over to the next draw on 196 occasions and on only three occasions, has it rolled down to the second division prize pool.
In LOTTO Plus, no Jackpot prize rollovers occur. If no one is able to match six numbers in a draw, the prize is divided equally amongst all the divisions that produce winners.
