Lotto Jackpot about to expire
Tuesday, 7 November 2006
Less than three months after a KwaZulu-Natal LOTTO player lost the opportunity to collect a more than R2-million Jackpot before it expired, another R1,7-million Jackpot is set to run out unless it is claimed before Thursday (November 9).
Uthingo spokesperson, Shenanda Janse van Rensburg, says the winner has until 5pm on November 9 to claim the prize worth R1 735 708 from one of Uthingo’s offices.
The ticket was bought in Durban for the draw held on November 09, 2005. The Quickpick ticket matched the winning numbers in the LOTTO Plus draw. The winning numbers were 10, 14, 18, 21, 31 and 44.
Janse van Rensburg is urging players to take a few minutes to search for old tickets in their homes or wherever they usually leave tickets after they have bought it.
"R1,7-million will be a huge financial boost to anybody. If the person with the winning ticket manages to locate the ticket before Thursday 5pm, he or she could be debt-free by the end of the week."
She says players who visited KZN from other provinces last year should also check their old tickets.
"In the past we’ve had a number of winners who bought winning tickets while they were on holiday or business outside their home provinces."
Just two weeks ago, a couple from Johannesburg bought a ticket worth R6-million in KwaZulu-Natal while they were on honeymoon. Luckily they checked the ticket the day after the draw and claimed the prize the next day.
"If the player cannot reach one of the National Lottery offices before 5pm on the day of expiry, he or she must phone the 24-hour Player Thusong customer helpline on 0800 40 30 40 for assistance.
